This Week's Question of the Week: "What do you like most about your job?"

We haven't had any rain in a while, and the soil is dry. It's hot out, and rain isn't in any forecast.

Yesterday we finished the harvest. The custom harvest guys are taking their combines off the farm right now. So now we'll we'll spend our time on grading and leveling the fields where we had soybeans. We're also washing and going over the equipment, and parking everything in the shed.

I don't think I can see myself doing anything but working the land. I grew up on a farm-always around crops and animals. My family lived in the country when I was a kid, and so I think it would be tough for me to break ties with the rural life. The thing I like most about it is seeing the crop breaking ground, and seeing that big green panorama of a growing crop against the sky.
