This Week's Question of the Week: "What do you like most about your job?"
The soybean harvest has finished up in our area, with production estimated at 44.5 bushels per acre.
But a lot of farmers didn't make that average number, and those who didn't sell beans in the ground at $7.27 will have some difficulties in amortizing their debts with suppliers. It's a delicate situation, and the worst part is the part about the dry spell that is affecting the second-crop corn. We've figured crop losses of up to 20 percent.
Producers are apprehensive-- and we think there will be a reduction in soybean and corn planting, in coming years.
